"I don't understand, though," Shane said, his eyes following Gattaca as she trotted past him once more. "Why did Sara buy her? She obviously has problems." Of course, to anyone seeing the mare work for the first time, this seemed nothing more than a normal ride; she was moving beautifully, each step loose and relaxed. However, anyone who'd happen to see her in the pasture, lashing out at the other horses or just plainly keeping to herself, sheltered on the shadow of the trees in the far end or pushing against the gate shortly after being left loose, would understand that something was quite wrong.

"She doesn't have problems," Aimee replied, narrowing her eyes for a moment as she asked for a canter. The mare's ears swivelled back as she listened. "Alex tried her out at her former home and had no problems whatsoever. Besides, you've examined her already. It's just next to other horses that she goes a bit..."

"Insane?" Shane provided. Aimee snorted. "Unpredictable," she said, a smile tugging at the corner of her lips. "She's... Well, she just doesn't understand them. That's what it seems like, anyway. It'd make sense. Sara said she was raised alone - she never had the chance to figure out what other horses are trying to tell her."

Shane nodded. "Bit like they're all speaking different languages." His brows furrowed, and he leaned on the fence, watching as Aimee slowed Gattaca to a walk, steering the mare past him. "I've only ever seen a case like hers once, I think. She's relatively young. Young enough to make it possible for us to get her to learn that language." Aimee raised her head, letting the reins drape loosely over the mare's withers. "We can't continue keeping her with the other horses. It's only stressing her."

"What do you have in mind?" she asked, eventually bringing the mare to the centre of the arena to hop off.

"Keep her alone with another horse. One that will help, none of those crazy mares that only think about galloping and bucking. Leave them be for a few weeks or so." He shrugged. "It might work, it might not, but it won't hurt, eh?"

I actually like how Aimee came out in this

seriously I spent some 10 minutes thinking about a title and it's still terrible

Again, many thanks to Tattered-Dreams for all the help. c:

I'm so sorry I've only just seen this! *slaps wrist* But I love it. I really like the simplicity, and its such a lovely perspective. I suck at straight on angles, particularly with horse's faces, so I always love art where it's done well like this :)

Gats has such a lovely face marking, too (I know someone else mentioned that) but this angle really shows it off so nicely. And Aimee did come out well, too :D It's great to see the story take shape some more, and as always - you're welcome for the help ^^
